I loooooooooove me some hummus! spread it on cracker, on some toast, use it as dip for some carrot sticks or eat it with the spoon straight out of the container!
Often this stuff is relatively expensive and gets eaten too quickly! So I have decided to make some at home, in this way I will have an endless supply at a fraction of the cost. Also if you don't have tahini leave it out - is will still taste delish!
Time: 10 minutes
1 can of chickpeas
2 tablespoons of olive oil
1/4 cup of tahini
1/4 cup of lemon juice
1 medium clove of garlic, minced
1/2 teaspoon of salt (and maybe some more to taste)
First, you have to create a base. To do this add the tahini, lemon juice, garlic, salt, and cumin to a food processor or blender and blend for about one minute until everything is well combined.
Next add the chickpeas and blend until smooth*
The hummus at this stage will look quite thick, so add water one tablespoon at a time and blend until you have achieved your desired consistency.
Taste to make you have seasoned it well and that all the flavours are present.
Now eat with everything!
*To get super smooth hummus, remove the skin off the chickpeas
